Laura Ann
About the Artist...

💜I am an artist of many means.💜

My name is Laura Ann and I've been an artist for as long as I could hold a pencil, or so I've been told by my family. I have memories as far back as when I was 3 of taking out disney books, slapping printer paper over them and tracing the line art with a sharpie. How those books survived my toddler chaos, I know not.

Carry on to my teenage years was when I started to take my art more seriously. Any 2D animated media had a fierce hold over me and my discovery of manga, worlds of beautiful art with compelling stories and characters that don't always wear capes in fantastical realms, was what officially told me that I could pursue art and illustration as a legitimate career.

In my college years, I ended up switching between a couple of schools in high pursuit of any affordable education that would come close to sequential art or animation, which led me to my first associate degree in Web & Graphic Design. (Fancy Name: Digital Media Production Technology) By this point I'd already written several stories, some of which I did illustrate into a couple comic chapters while others are still sitting as manuscripts. From there, I went on to my second associate degree in Video Production Technology with a Concentration in Animation where I was able to land a part time job as an Adjunct Professor teaching introductory animation courses.

Among all of this, since 2013, I'd started attending conventions, markets, and fairs as an artist, especially once I learned in my early working years that my income as a part time barista paled in comparison to what I saw my art could do. Thus started the beginnings of my shop, Ethereal Illustrations.

As the years progressed, I picked up more hobbies such as buying up jewelry and beading supplies and making Ear Wraps. Because of their whimsy and fun nature, I decided to add them to my shop which led to a broader expansion in jewelry over the years. From wraps to earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and now I am making hand-knotted beaded necklaces.

Post 2020, after I spent years being fascinated with designing perfume oils and doing extensive research, I officially added Perfume Oils to my work, thus expanding my shop name from Ethereal Illustrations to Ethereal Illustrations & Creations. (Simple Ethereal Creations unfortunately was already taken.)

Now I have gone to over 200 events and conventions across the eastern United States since 2013 and as broad of a stroke as my shop seems, everything still carries the ethereal theme that I love and hold near and dear to my heart. I still draw and illustrate, so much so that I at last have my story, The River Runs Black, published on WebToon, Tapas, and on the new platform PopJoy, free for all to read, on top of other fun project works and commissions.
